Why Disc Golf?

New Player Growth Continues

Disc golf is the second fastest growing sport just behind pickleball, and has seen an influx of new players over the last few years that are attracted to the many benefits it provides:

Convenience

Great way to get out with existing friends or forge new friendships over the game. A 9 hole round can be completed in an average 45 minutes!

Wellness

Not much is better for the body and mind than being immersed in nature with the rewarding aspect of the game of golf!

Sustainability

Courses are designed to encourage play through natural surroundings while leaving a minimal environmental footprint!

A course near Downtown Orlando? Yes it's possible and has been proposed to the City of Orlando! We want to be a part of the DTO Mission to transform downtown for all, imagine catching an eco-friendly electric shuttle from Lake Highland through downtown for a sustainable way to play golf!

We believe a small footprint course on this property would greatly benefit local residents and complement recent fitness updates to the park.

The estimated population within a 3-mile radius of this location ranges from approximately 84,800 to 113,500 residents, highlighting the density and diversity of the community. With several senior living facilities nearby, the area is home to individuals across various age groups, from active seniors to families and young professionals that could benefit from a new way to get out and socialize while enjoying some exercise.

This park is located just 3 miles east of downtown Orlando and is the trailhead for the Lake Underhill Path. Being a part of the Orlando fitness trail system this park features a number of amenities that disc golf could compliment while benefiting the 5 area neighborhoods.

Nestled just west of I-4 and conveniently close to downtown, this park offers a lake view, as well as expansive open spaces and majestic mature oak trees that are extremely conducive for disc golf.

Given its proximity to major roads, a nearby school, and its walkability for residents, including those in the historic Isle of Catalina neighborhood, this park is perfectly positioned for a beginner or recreational course.

Although not as close to Downtown Orlando as the other proposed locations, this former Navy recreation area is very ideal for a course and has previously been suggested as a possible location by the city.

Southport Park is already a showcase recreation center for southeast Orlando. Disc golf would be a great additional amenity. According to a recent Vision Plan the future vision for Southport is as a livable community: an outstanding place to live, work, play, learn and shop.
